Apartment renovations and refurbishment
A whole-apartment renovation is easier when one crew is responsible for everything. We do surfaces, floors, trims, doors and windows, and bigger changes like moving partition walls.
In older Helsinki apartment buildings the work is often precise: cornices, panelled doors and tall skirting boards that should be kept or rebuilt to look original. That is skilled carpentry, and it is what we are good at.
In newer flats it is usually about surfaces and function: new floors, levelled and painted walls, new doors and storage.
Common questions
Do I need the housing company's permission?
Usually not for surfaces, but yes for wet rooms and structural changes.
Can the renovation be done one room at a time?
Yes. Many people renovate in stages, and we plan the order so you can keep living there.
How long does a full apartment renovation take?
It depends on the scope. A surface renovation usually takes a few weeks, a bigger one longer. The schedule is agreed before we start.
Can you keep the old building’s details?
Yes. Cornices, panelled doors and tall skirting boards can be kept, restored or rebuilt to look original.
Can I be away during the work?
Yes. We keep you updated regularly, and bigger decisions are always agreed with you.
General questions
How much will it cost?
It always depends on the job, so we do not quote blind. We come and look and give you a quote. Asking for a quote does not commit you to anything.
Who makes the decisions?
You do. We explain the options and give recommendations from long experience, but the final choices are always yours.
Does the household tax deduction apply?
For private individuals, usually on the labour share when the work is done in your own home or holiday home.
Where do you work?
Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen, Kirkkonummi and Sipoo. For larger jobs, elsewhere in Uusimaa too.
Can I deal with you in English?
Yes. Jason and the crew work in English.
Are your contractor’s obligations in order?
Yes. We are a Tilaajavastuu.fi Luotettava Kumppani, so tax, pension insurance and other records are verifiable.
